Freedom Radio is a Kabale based radio station broadcasting on 94.7FM. its broadcasting studios are located on Associations House,plot 6, Bwankosya Road,Kabale Municipality, Kabale District. it is the main channel of communication to an estimated audience of over 15 million people living in the districts of western Uganda including some parts of Northern Tanzania, Eastern DRC and as far as Kigali and other parts of Rwanda.
Freedom Radio was established to promote Community Development through Community broadcasting and information Dissemination.
Freedom radio has over twenty members of staff serving on a full time basis, and many agents across the region plus senior reporters based in kampala city and other towns in the region.Freedom Radio offers the following services;

The Community Radio is being used to improve awareness and knowledge of solutions to community development problems within various sectors including culture, rural development, education, hygiene and sanitation, agriculture and local governance among rural people.
The Community Radio serves as an important link between the Community and Government and as such, is promoting the other sectors very well. Through its strategy of communal listenership, more than 100 communities have formed listeners clubs across south Western Uganda.
The activities of Community Radio have given further meaning to decentralization and local governance. An appropriate medium has been created to facilitate an interface between duty bearers and rights holders, especially for the people in the districts of south Western Uganda.
There is an increasing body of evidence indicating that the world’s climate is changing at a fast rate, threatening the world's environmental, social and economic development. Global warming has led to rising average global air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global mean sea level.
TThe Community Radio is creating Public Awareness on Environment and Wildlife Conservation through Radio Programmes. Uganda is rich in biodiversity, and relatively richer than many African countries. The Country has species of high conservation values, and a rich and varied landscape with many ecosystems.
Programmes designed on topical issues have further endeared the Community Radio to the people. The station engages experts/resource persons as guests on these programmes and they (resource persons) are able to explain and make clear issues in their areas of expertise like social inclusion, conflict resolution, and peace building.
Food is among the largest drivers of global environmental change contributing to climate change and biodiversity loss
People across the world are becoming increasingly concerned about climate change. In Uganda, 8-in-10 people see climate change as a major threat to life.
